This section of the site brings together a range of digital resources developed directly by the Arslantepe team or in collaboration with our many scientific and/or institutional partners.

Arslantepe Digital Archive (ArsDB)

The link provides access to Arslantepe’s integrated platform for storing, visualizing and analyzing excavation materials. Developed by the CNR (Institute for Mediterranean Studies - ISMed), it is based on a data-centric architecture implemented through an open-source Data Base Management System (PostgreSQL), enriched by modules for processing geo-spatial data (Postgis) and Full Text searches. The platform also makes use of a series of Python modules for presenting data through a Web-based user interface, thus facilitating interoperability between different operating systems, as well as with increasingly popular mobile devices.
Currently, only a relatively small portion of the data is freely available: access is restricted to members of the excavation team and Malatya museum staff.

Arslantepe Bibliographic Repository (ArslantepeBIB)

The repository was conceived with the aim of storing and making usable through the Web all the bibliographic resources created by the mission and a selection of the most important contributions that have occurred during the century-long history of exploration at the site. Made through the open-source Zotero platform, it allows users to filter the different bibliographic entries through key terms and macro categories of topics. Zotero’s interface also allows users to export the bibliography, or parts of it, into the most popular bibliographic formats, as well as to create bibliographic directories formatted according to an extraordinary variety of citation styles

Arslantepe Virtual Tour

The virtual tour of the “Palace” of Arslantepe and its immediate surroundings allows visitors to immerse themselves in the complex architecture of this very ancient monument and to experience its intricate structure firsthand as if the visitor were actually at the site. The tour is also enriched with numerous additional contents that allow the visitor, even the one who happens to be in the palace, to experience an enriched multimedia experience.
The application, elaborated by LABGIS of the University of Roma Tre in close collaboration with the Arslantepe team, can be used through a normal web-browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox) as well as offer a full Virtual Reality experience by means of the increasingly popular VR viewers.
